Today, Adventuring the Great Wide Somewhere turns two years old! A small part of me can’t believe it’s been two years already. As a part-time traveler with a full-time job and minimal spending money, two years is a long time to continue finding ways to travel and make time for the hours of writing, editing and the dozens of little side projects that go into blogging.
But if I’m being completely honest, a much bigger part of me is surprised that it’s only been two years. I had to double check before writing this post that it has, in fact, been just two years since I published my first ever blog post. Hey all! Today I want to take a break from writing about my recent trip to Paris and Rome, and share a peek of what I’ve been up to since returning stateside. Blog-wise, it looks like I’ll be in Europe through the end of the year, and I’m in no hurry to stop writing about my favorite place in the world!
That doesn’t mean I’ve stopped adventuring around my adopted hometown of Orlando, however! September was a very busy, very exciting month, both in my blogging and in my personal life. It started off with the wedding of a good friend, quickly followed by Dan’s birthday weekend, and finally a visit from my younger brother Jared. September also marked the beginning of two of my favorite seasonal theme park events: Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando, and the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival at Walt Disney World! Because these events have a limited run, I wanted to jump right in and share them while they are still going strong. First up is the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! Continue reading “Eating Around the World at the 2016 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival”
What a year it has been. So far I’ve visited family in Washington State, taken a weekend trip up to Canada, and vacationed in France and Italy. Before I get to writing about Europe, however, I wanted to take a moment to talk about what comes next. Dan and I spent a year and a half saving and planning for Europe. All that saving meant we didn’t have much money left over even for small trips to the beach. It’s an odd feeling, now that our Euro trip has ended, to have full wallets and no big trips on the horizon. Continue reading “Where to Next?”
It’s time again for the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival! I debated whether or not to write about this year’s event, since I already covered last year’s festivities. If you’re looking for tips on how to make the most of your time and money (hint: lighten up on the drinks), check out my original festival post here.
Already know the basics? Read on to see how this year’s offerings compare. Continue reading “The 2016 Epcot Flower & Garden Festival”
If you’ve ever been to a Disney park, you know it doesn’t come cheap. And if you haven’t been to a Disney park, I’m guessing the insane cost is one of the biggest factors in that decision. As a traveler, I like to spend my money wisely. Instead of buying boatloads of expensive shoes, I save money regularly to put toward future trips. But there is one thing that I do pour an exorbitant amount of money into, something that pops up frequently in my blog posts. Year after year, I pay hundreds of dollars to have year-round access to Walt Disney World. Continue reading “Why I’m Keeping My Disney Pass”
Today, Adventuring the Great Wide Somewhere turns one year old! I started this blog in part to force myself to pursue my travel dreams, and so far, it’s been a smashing success! In the past year, I’ve traveled to California, Washington and Utah, and shared details about the trip to France that spurred this whole thing into motion.
To celebrate, I want to share my top five travel memories. We’re going way back, starting at a time before I even owned a laptop or knew what SEO meant. Continue reading “My First Travel Blogaversary: Seven Treasured Travel Memories”
This blog was in its beginning stages this time last year. I would not consider myself a world traveler just yet, but I’ve always wanted to be. One of the biggest reasons I started this blog was to motivate myself to chase the life I want. Sitting at my desk drooling over far-off destinations isn’t getting me anywhere; I had to actively save and pursue my travel goals to make those dreams a reality.
So to kick off 2016 right – hello, it’s been three weeks already- I wanted to put together a loose list of travel goals for this year. This is not a bucket list, per se, but a few places that I could realistically experience within the year. Let’s get going! Continue reading “5 Places to See in 2016”
I’m wrapping up my Orlando posts for a while, but before I go, I wanted to share a few more details from my little brother’s visit back in September. I’ve already written quite a bit about our visits to Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World, but what about everything in between?
When Jared first booked his flight to Orlando, I asked him what one thing he wanted to do or see, aside from the obvious, “Go to Disney World.” His answer?
“I want to see some gators.” Continue reading “All the Small Things: Orlando Edition”
2015 was a hell of a year for me, and I mean that in the best way possible. This time last year, I was cramped behind a desk, holding back tears as I suffered through what can only be described as a quarter-life crisis. Continue reading “Cheers to the New Year!”
Rome. Venice. Florence.
Is there anyone in the world who hasn’t dreamed of visiting Italy? Seeing a country that has so thoroughly influenced the world I know today has been a distant dream of mine for ages. Continue reading “Experiencing La Dolce Vita at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel”
